Authentic Stories from Diners
We were not staying in the hotel , but came for dinner, lunch and drinks across our weekend in Dunkeld. We felt very welcomed by the bar staff, and appreciated their great humour! This place is definitely a hub of the community, and had great atmosphere at all times that we visited. Food was amazing, with brilliant chicken and beef burgers (hand made buns - wow), and good toasties at lunch. Drinks are of excellent value and service. Also dog friendly (we love Sasha and Tia). Highly recommended a stop in. Thanks for your hospitality!
Can't believe we've never eaten here until now! We've been coming to dunkeld for 12 years now and staying and haven't discovered the food here until now. Great food and best value for money in the whole of Dunkeld. It was so good we ate here both nights of our stay. We had the steak pie, beef roast, Cullen skunk and Mac cheese, they were all brilliant and mostly plentiful. Good hearty pub grub but made with excellent quality produce. Made to feel very welcome and good old Scottish traditional pub atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it when visiting Dunkeld.
An outstanding food experience—on par with top restaurants and something you’d never expect from a pub. We didn’t stay at the hotel; we simply came for an early dinner and were blown away. The scallops with bacon and the miso fish were exceptional—beautifully cooked, full of flavor, and truly restaurant-level. A genuine food gem.
The food is a diamond in the rough. From the outside it looks like average pub grub place but it turned out to be the best food of our entire Scotland trip. We had the scallops with bacon and then a miso fish for main course. You have to eat here of your anywhere close
On the bright side, the food in the restaurant was beautiful (complements to the chef) and the staff were very nice, apart from the older woman who served us (who we suspect may have been the owner/manager) who was extremely rude and unpleasant throughout our meal, which honestly ruined our entire evening. We were also forced to eat our dinner in the “lounge” which seemed like an overflow area that was cold, silent, next to the toilets, stinking of air freshener, lacking of any life whatsoever, and constantly interrupted by people wandering in off the street, expecting to get a table in an empty restaurant and being told very abruptly to leave. It was a strange experience. A good meal ruined by the horrible woman who served us.
